Start a Self Love Practice!

Updated: Sep 11

Love is expansion and living with the gifts it offers us heals your being in every way. Start with loving yourself first!

When you consciously choose a self love practice you have decided that you are worth the time and the effort.... and you are!

I think we can agree that when we feel things are worth it we devote time and energy to it. Investing in self love because you know you are worth it, is only something you can truly do for yourself.

To love yourself completely for all that you are brings you back to source, back to love energy which is in fact the highest level of vibration in the universe. I am of the mindset that through all of our life experiences we are constantly challenged to move away from love and to invest in things like anger, hatred,

judgment and so on. You see if we all lived in a love vibration there would be no power struggles, crazy egos, wars, comparisons and so on. It is through love that we ascend and raise our vibration which is our core vibrational essence. It is time that we get back to understanding that harmony and peace actually exist and should exist with more frequency, and it all starts with you:)

A self love practice is like any other practice where you make the decision to take it on and execute specific things that keep you growing and learning. A practice is something that is developed over time and when you adopt it with consistency, authenticity and patience you change the fibers and vibration of your being. Self love can be defined as including the ability to be compassionate and honouring to yourself, it also includes understanding your worthiness and ability to prioritize your needs.

We have collectively gone through one of the biggest traumas in history and if you did like me dring COVID... you did not place self love at the forefront of your calendar. Well now you can and here is how!

5 Musts for a Self-Love Practice

1. Self love begins with knowing you are worth the time and effort for self care.

Each day needs to include sacred self care and it doesn't have to cost a thing or be super time consunimg. It could be a warm bath with candles and meditative music. It could be writing in your journal. It could be going for a walk in nature (no selfies!!) and it could be having a cup of tea with a good friend. Your physical body, mental body and spiritual body's are in need of rest, nurturing and support. You are a multifaceted being so take the time and schedule yourself!

2. Give the gift of gratitude.

Gratitude can be given many ways but the type of gratitude I am talking about is finding something you are gratedful for about yourself. For example, maybe during COVID you ate too much, drank too much and gained a ton of weight. If you are able to get out and exercise despite this and have changed your dietary habits maybe just be grateful for the fact that you are more in alignment with healthy living. To truly practice gratitude amplifies your heart space and when you can shift that gratitude to yourself in any way you change your vibration.

3. Self reflection.

When we are on autopilot every day we don't often take the time for refelction or self awareness. To truly grow in a spiritual way and loving way we must take the time to reflect on how we can grow and even more so align with the best version of ourselves there is an honouring of life in and of itself. Connecting in this way and creating awareness is living from an expanded viewpoint... LOVE is expansion!

4. Forgive those that have hurt you.

Forgiveness is a very powerful opportunity to love yourself because by doing so you are no longer investing in the story of what happened to you. You shift your focus into letting go and honouring that you have the choice to get rid of the heavy baggage of your experiences. When you invest in being the victim you keep your energy rooted away from love. There is no better gift to yourself than forgiveness and remember that just because you forgive does not mean they got away with it, but rather that you chose to circle back to love.

5. Honour your limits

This has always been a tough one for me.... setting boundaries based on what I deserve. We all deserve to be treated with kindness, compassion and respect and yet I see every day the opposite of these. By setting proper emotional and physical boundaries, you stand up for yourself. When you stand up for yourself you once again connect with self worth. The more worthy you feel (not to be confused with entitled) the more you align energetically with not only self love but love in all forms.

To begin a self-love practice is to honour all that is sacred about yourself. Remember there is no one in this world that can make you feel as loved as you can for yourself and this is the place that all healthy relationships begin from!
